Default New sway bar links = clunk-b-gone!

Took about 30mins from start to finish both sides. A simple job, really. Old link bushings were seperated from the links and spun inside freely. Each bushing was deteriorated somehwat as well. This took care of my front end clunk on bumps and uneven terrain. The front end also feels much more firm, but still not completely solid though due to some worn control arm ball joints, but at least the clank, clunk, thump is gone. The 97 is now near complete as far as bringing it up to par on maintenance. It's virtually free of any noises, etc. now! Can't wait to send my ecu in on Thursday This car has been brought back from a very dark place.

So if you have clunking up front, don't immediately assume you need new control arms, etc. Check your sway bar links!

No DIY needed. You put the front end on jack stands, take off the wheels, and r&r the links. 2 bolts/nuts for each link. 17mm and 18mm wrench and sockets, and I think a 15mm wrench is used for the new hardware. A hammer and a big flat head screw driver to pry the links/bolts out. It's very simple unless you have a 96 or early 97 and you need to move the bottom of the strut out of the way which is one bolt.

DIY <-- But if you really need that, don't forget one of these

It's stupid easy. I sort of took a gamble and bought ebay parts, but they are cheap and easy to do, and I expect to get my $38 shipped worth out of them:

Upgrade the rear links to metal while you're at it to prevent stabbing a CV boot to death.
