newbie here, struggling to understand...
i know that atleast for my 98 (maybe all pre 99.5's?) this feature is unavailable. i actualy prefer having control over my door locks.
what if you happen to drive into an angry mob, or more possibly zombies, your doors are locked so they cant get to you but they surround your car. your sidearm is in your glovebox but its locked. you take your key out of the ignition to unlock it, but then all your doors unlock and the zombie mob drags you thru the street and consumes your flesh before you can reach your weapon.
obviously the most likely scenario.

Yep - we did that on my car and a few others using Hiwords' VagCom setup.
yeah with a vag-com you can change the door lock settings, same w/ the windows up/down key thing.
and like others have said...what else do you want to know? i bet most of us can tell you more about your car from some pics then the VIN. at least i can.
oh and good luck w/ everything. and i hope you like to turn a wrench...it helps keep the cost of the car wayyy down. when most mechanics hear audi they like to charge more money cause 1-they think you have it and 2- cause these cars have certain tricks/tools you need to know to work on some parts. but dont let it get you down, its all just nuts and bolts.

Whoah! Never realized there are so many active members in this forum. Thank you so much for the many replies. That makes me feel a lot better owning this Audi. Will try to get some pics for this and post them up for all to see. But everything is really practically stock.
As for the speaker, i'm actually in a dilemma whether or not to open the door panels first and check if the speaker is 'savlvageable', or to buy the replacement part first and then open it up. But i actually feel that when i buy replacements, the supplier would want to open it up just to check that i'm getting the rigth parts.
Lastly, can anybody give me an idea as to the location of the relay that controls the hazard lights / problem? I want to get the specs written to give to my mechanic so he can canvass. I think relays are at least cheap here (definitely less than $80 on most cases).
Again, thanks everybody!

Oh, and by the way, just for clarification, my car isn't turbo right? Cause nothing on the car, or the manual, says it's a 1.8T. Even the decal just says 1.8 But this is confusing me cause i don't seem to see a lot of info regarding plain vanilla 1.8 Audi A4 models and most refer to 1.8 turbos? Hmmmm...
Does your engine cover say "20V Turbo"? That's the easiest way to tell. Also I'm assuming the cover is still there.
A lot of us on these forums are from the US. Here in US, the only 2 models of B5's we got were the 2.8 and the 1.8 Turbo. This probably explains why a lot of these 2 models are the ones mostly covered on the topics.
On the other hand, Asia and Europe had the 1.6 non-turbo, 1.8 non-turbo, I believe couple of the TDI models, and so on.

There's that. I'm gonna see if I can find a better article with pictures that work.

Thanks Kriptonik for the very prompt replies. Beats actually having a phone-in support line. Heheh
Will be looking into the DIY for the hazard lights. Also, great to know about the various A4 'variants'.Surprisingly, this car came complete with most things except the damn lug nut bolt adaptor for the anti-theft wheel
Now i'm convinced the car isn't turbo. It's a local purchase, and doesn't have 20v Turbo on the engine cover. But it actually feels quite zippy nonetheless. I'm now wondering how it feels driving a turbo version.
Again, thanks!
