Newbie Questions!!
Hey all! My Pops just purchased a 2001 A4 2.8 Quattro (49,000 miles)...He LOVES it!! I do have a few questions though.

First off, Would you guys reccommend switching to a full synthetic oil, or does the car have too many miles to do so?

Second, The headlight washers don't work, does anyone have a remedy for this problem?

Third, when does the timing belt need to be changed?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks in advance!!

Newbie Questions!!
Welcome! Every car i've had has been switched to synthetic. Right now I run Mobil 1 10w30. I just switched my a4 over at 75k miles. I think it runs better now. As for your headlight washers, they are driven off of a seperate pump. It could be burned out. Very common problem. And the timing belt usually needs to be changed around 50-70k miles. That is the most important thing you should take care of. I've heard of far too many people destroying their audi engines when this thing goes.

more likely then not hes probly opperatingthe washerswrong they dont come on wit the windsheild washers all the time only when the headlights are turned on so..... try that then let us know if there workin

A car can never have to many miles to switch to synthetic as far as I know I run 15-50W Mobil 1 in my A4 resist breakdown better and keeps oil pressure up

Only run 15w50 if you have a turbo engine. Audi_A42.8Q's is a 2.8 so he should run regular 10w30.
Definitely switch to synthetic. Make plans to change the timing belt and tensioner between 60K-65K.
