Default Newbies first limpmode

Great I think im in limp mode now. Car is only pushing 5 psi on a apr chipped ecu. I was playing around with the cruise control while driving it but i didnt order any programs with the chip. My cel has been on for 3 days now because of a bad o2 sensor, would that have any effect with it.

Thank you jesus. I just ran out and disconnected the battery for 15 mins plugged it back in, then let the car read the ecu for a couple minutes then I had my boost back. Now that I dont need help with the limp mode any ideas why it was fixed by just unplugging the battery.

When you unplug the battery or ECU and turn the car back on it resets the fueling I believe. I know when I had my A4, when I swapped in the Chipped ECU I had to plug the battery back in, turn the key forward for a couple minutes and you would hear it adjusting. When it was done adjusting you could start the car and good to go. Did the same thing when I took the Chipped ECU out, had to let it adjust again.

If it keeps doing it you could be throwing codes and not seeing a CEL - you should get VAG COM and scan it to make sure you have no codes in there if the problem happens again

After disconnecting the battery in your cars you need to get your garage or if you are luck enough to have a VAG reader (which can also reset codes, throttle etc), to do a Throttle Adaptation. This resets your computer so that it knows the zero mark. If you dont you might find that when you depress the throttle, there is a momentary delay in engine response. Should only take 5 minutes.

Turning the car forward to the accessory position does the throttle adaption - that's the name I couldn't think of yesterday when I put up that post. I did it multiple times with my A4 when swapping ECUs or Batteries and it worked every time.

LOL I had it remember my password :-P

Correct. On the ndbw cars there wont be any noise, only on the dbw cars you will hear the ecu doing a few cycles of the throttle body from closed to WOT.

If it is a bad pre-cat 02 sensor the car might go into limp again. If it is that 02 you need to put a new one in.
