no spark in cylinders 1 and 4

Default no spark in cylinders 1 and 4

for wat reason would their be no spark on cylinders 1 and 4..its a audi a4 1997 adr engine code.ive tryed changing coil pack and problem still excist

Do a search on this forum for Ignition control module or ICM and you will see that it is most likely the cause of your problem.

Agreed, the ICM (ignition control module) also known as the power output stage controls voltage to the coils, if that doesn't work, you won't have spark.

sounds good to me but were is the icm ignition control module located on the car.its a adr engine code and uses a bosch coil pack

a little more info please, what year/ size of the engine....I would start on checking spark plugs, coilpacks. You can swap coil packs and see if the problem follows the cylinder...

Thats true, if this is a 2.8L then your problem isn't the ICM. On the 2.8L you have one coil pack fire two cylinders. If the coil pack is firing 1 and 4 then swap the coil set and see if the misfires move.

ADR is a 1.8 I believe. He already tried to change coil packs so that is why I pointed him towards the ICM. You should find the ICM on top of the air box (where your air filter is)
