Default Reconnect the fuse for diagnostics helped

Thanks to who mentioned this but it helped me connect the scanner as well. Take out the diagnostics fuse and connect it back in after a few seconds. After that my scanner connected to the ECU.

P.s.: first contribution in these forums, yay me. Or any forum for that matter. Looking forward to the adventure with my new B5.

Check if your transmission ECU got wet cuz mine did and caused a short at K-Line. No check engine, no codes, no driving issues, but box was wet😩.

I have a factory radio and the OBD2 Bluetooth connection scanner and it says failed to initialize scanner.

Try unplugging your ABS module and scanning again. A bad ABS module or an aftermarket stereo will sometimes stop the car from communicating.

Default Hate to keep this thread going....

I’m having issues getting my 2001 A6 Quattro inspected through NYS I can get it connected through vag-com after resting the system but once the car is running it looses connection to k-line system. I checked voltage too #7 port on the obd11 and ignition on car off it’s 5.7 volts engine on I’m at 12.4 at #7 pin! I have and aftermarket radio I followed Ross-techs page and cut the k-line from the harness I checked voltage there and it’s 12.4 as well. Does anyone know where the k-lines all come together in C5-A6? I don’t have any lights on other then a brake pad light. I’m kinda lost at this point any help would be greatly appreciated! I need to get my car inspected ASAP.

Did you try disconnecting your ABS module and trying again?
