When I started the car this morning there was something of an odd noise. It's subzero outside and the car was frozen when I went out. I put the key in and turned it over, the starter cranked over at it's usual pace but it was accompanied by a low, bellowing rumble, quite a worrying one. There were no issues with the heater or the engine getting up to temp. What's more, once I turned it off and started it again the noise had gone.

I've put a code reader on it and the only thing that shows is 00539 for the fuel temperature sensor, but I've had this before and I don't think there's any link.

It's a AFN 1.9 TDi 110 SE.
