oh my god im pissed
Get the bently manual. It's made specifically for your car (with options for FWD or Quattro, Avant, 1.8T or 2.8, etc) and has just about all of the information you'll need to get most jobs done. Don't cheap out man. You get what you pay for (which is why I think all of us shelled out the cash for an Audi in the first place, right?). Get some tools, some beer, a pack of smokes, some patience, and get to work. It's pretty satisfying to DIY.
i would go with the bentley, i dont have one yet myself but i have used those haynes repair manuals and they are not very informational you wind up having to look up 20 different pages to do one small project... go for the bentley, i will be doing the same
Every car has expensive maintenance when you pay someone else to work on it for you.
My maintenance costs were higher on my first car (old - aka easy to work on - Hyundai) that I had a mechanic do everything to than they are on my Audi that I do almost everything to.
The only way to learn to work on cars is to go out and do it. Just start small and you will gain confidence in your abilities with each new project.
