Why are you stuck? Plenty of people switch to synth after running conventional, you just have to do a couple changes with a synth blend before running full synth, at least that's what I was told.

It has been using regular for most of it's life so my mechanic said to stay with regular because engines get use to what oil u give them. He said car engines can seize if u try to convert them to full..

That's a very old myth. It's not true. Switch. I'd consider switching mechanics also.

either way im gonna stick with regular cuz its been fine with it.. i would consider full synthetic more of a luxury then a necessity, and im not pushing my car to the extremes required for full to make a difference.. thx for ur input though.

Well, synthetic is definitely better and will last longer. I'd buy Castrol GTX, though, if I didn't want a synthetic.

It depends on what we are doing. If its just a standard oil change around $400. A 15k service is around $900, and the only difference there is we check the fault codes, lube the door hinges, top off all the fluids and check the tires. People pay it though, usually in cash. Makes me realize how poor I am.

I would change over to synthetic just for the fact that your engine will last longer.
That BS about the engine siezing is an old wives tale. It originated in germany when the ****'s first started using synthetic oil in their tanks. They first used convensional then invented one of the first man made synthetics and tried using it, alot of thier engines had major problems under the switch. Up until about the late 60's or so that was the case. Now a days you can switch between the two without any problems whatsoever.
