Unhappy Oil leak! Need opinions.

Hi fellas! I recently took my car to a local tech to get my oil leak diagnose. Was told that rear main seal, pan gasket and adapter are all leaking. They quoted me 1600 before tax for parts and labor. Question is, is it worth the money to have them do this or can this be a DIY? i research about how to replace the RMS and most find it a tight squeeze without pulling out the engine. I cant find any diy for engine removal. How hard is it to take engine out? only diy i found about RMS is really vague and kinda summarizing the whole process and thats without taking engine out. And also anyone had experience with bar's oil additive? Thank you in advance!

I have a 2001 A4 B5 AWM,last year my rear main and oil filter seal was leaking bad. I bought it to a independent repair shop and they replaced the seals for $775.00 I'd say shop around, that is too high of a price, rip off.

The oil pan will add quite a bit to the estimate if it is a upper.

Start by supporting the engine , remove transmission , subframe , lower pan & after that it is a cake walk.

yes do the clutch. And you might as well do a tranny flush since its gonna be in your lap.
