Default oil problem

i have a 96 a4 12v, the oil light is coming on and it is leaking quite a bit of oil so i replaced the oil pan gasket as a starter hoping it just had to do with oil level, but thats not the case the oil level is perfect and the light is still coming on so i has to be something with the pressure. does anyone know of and possible quick fixes or do i need a new oil pump?

thanks for any input

Could be the oil pressure switch thats faulty. You need to hook it up to a mechanical pressure gauge to find out. Could be a plugged pickup line, but since you have a 12v i doubht it.

uhh... if it's leaking oil then that's what you need to fix first...

thanks ill start with the oil pressure switch, and i know i need to fix the oil leak, i just did the gasket yesterday so im trying to find the new leak still, looks like its coming from above the oil pan on the drivers side, but the valve covers and everything are clean, just gotta do some cleaning then waiting.

do you have to take the front clip off and put it in the "servivce position" to do this, or can you reach it from under the car?
