Which thermostat? And I don't know if this helps but I think my cct is going as I hear loud clicking at the back of the head

the only thermostat, the one for your coolant.

i have the same thing going on in my car. i thought it was normal because i just bought the car and drove the 2 hour home (it felt fine), but i guess this is a bad thing. heater and a/c works great too. what can i do?

Is that the coolant temperature switch/sensor? Because I just replaced that

no the thermostat is the thing in the block that opens when your coolant gets hotter.

Seems to me if the t-stat was stuck open his water temp would be down.

It's not going to blow your car up tomorrow if your oil doesn't get up to operating temp but it definitely isn't good. When the oil stays cooler like that it doesn't thin out like it's supposed to when it's hot, making it more difficult for the engine to get oil in all the little nooks and crannies that it's supposed to go (like up to the head to lubricate the valve train).

what about the temp sensor being bad?

Kinda what I was thinking. Is the oil level sensor also the temp sensor or do I have that one wrong?

jonbonesjones 10-12-2012 09:31 AM

i think they are different. i know theres two sensors down there behind the oil cooler.

Yep, you're right. I couldn't find any reference to it on ECS or in my Haynes but the Google machine says it's next to the oil cooler.
