Default OIL text flashing inside odometer???

I have a 97 A4, 1.8T automatic trans, and an OIL text just started flashing inside my odometer right under the mileage. I was wondering if this was my tranny service light, or maybe something to do with the trans.

I've already had the other oil light turn on before, and that resulted in a new timing chain, valve job, new turbo and etc.... I DON'T want that to happen again!

HELP PLEASE..............

It's just a service interval reminder. When you change your oil, you reset it and after (I think) 5k miles, it lights up again to remind you to do another oil change. Scan down this page or the next - there's another thread here that is very recent, which deals with the same thing, and someone put a link to the procedure in it. I don't recall it offhand, but it's easy.

Audi claims it to be a lifetime fluid, but I wouldn't bet my transmission on that. I've had my car for 25k miles and I'm probably going to change mine sometime this summer (I'll have to look and see when it was done before). Being that they claim a lifetime span for it, probably every 60-80k would be OK (Auditech79 could advise better than I on this though).
