P0345 - Cam Position Sensor Bank 2?
2001 A4Quattro 2.8L w/5sp triptronic
How common is it for these sensors to go out?
Car drives very well normally, but under random conditions it will misfire and pop. Doesn't do it very often, in fact, not once today, but some days it's ridiculous.
Initially came up with code P0022 and P0345. I then disconnected and cleared it and P0022, P0300 and P0304 didn't come back.
Did some research and decided to first check timing belt alignment. I'm then gonna swap cam position sensors and see if the code follows. If the code doesn't follow it and the timing belt is lined up the plan is to remove the valve cover to verify cam alignment.
Anyone have any other suggestions to pursue?
Before anyone asks, I put conventional dino oil (Castrol GTX 5w30) in it. I've since learned this could be an issue. If I have to get to the valve cover the plan is to seafoam the crankcase and change the oil before going farther.

Swapped sensors last night and code stayed with bank 2.
Also have swapped coil pack. No change really.
Seafoamed crankcase and will be changing oil after work while i verify timing belt alignment.
Are there any common sources of vacuum leaks in the 2.8L motor?
