The problem: Where do I begin troubleshooting this? Is there a "most common culprit" on this chassis/engine?

Honestly, the gas cap is the most common for a large leak.

Perform a visual inspection of your EVAP system, look for torn hoses or even a crack in your gas tank.

Run the LDP and listen for leaks. Your EVAP purge valve might even be stuck open. Just start and diagnose systematically.
