its a bitch to remove that LDP from the wheel liner. A lift will definitely help, or if your short.

There does seem to be alot of dust in the area where it is. The filter did seem a bit dusty but not to the point where I would suspect its clogged. I didnt have enough time to drop the LDP and charcoal canister so I can see if the lines were clogged.

I havent exhausted my efforts yet before I just take it to an independant VW/Audi specialist. The only other thing I can think of is that the LDP isnt producing enough vaccum to pressurize the fuel system. I dont even hear that pppsshshhhh when removing the gas cap so either my LDP is bad or clogged lines.

LDP's dont fail that often btw.

yeah i know they dont fail often, thats why i'm starting to believe that the bench test specs that the tech gave me is wrong, since i have now tested 3 different LDP's and they all tested the same

do you have a bentley manual?? if so, do you have the wiring diagram for this system? i checked my LDP today while running the test on vag-com and i got power on all 3 wires at the LDP so my ground wire is shorted out somehow so i think thats gotta be my problem but i dont have a wiring diagram to tell me which wire is supposed to be the ground wire and i dont know where it gets its ground from....

So I've been running this code since the day I bought this car. We put it on the fogger and could detect no leak anywhere. We checked all fuses, relays etc etc and I pretty much resigned myself to just having the CEL on all the time... as there were seemingly no ill effects.

A couple of days ago I got out of the car after a long drive and as I walked past the trunk I noticed a very strong burning plastic / fried electronics type of smell. It was coming from the driver rear wheel well. I later discovered that the VAG people, in their infinite wisdom, decided to house the leak detector pump there.

The unit is obviously totally fried, and I really am in no rush to fix it. It's very German really... to have a LEAK DETECTOR PUMP which is likely to fail than you are to have the problem it was designed to detect!!
