Hiwords, don't know if I told you but I realized why that rust ring was happening. The Hawk pads are beveled somewhat, so that the inner section rises away from the rotor. Not sure why they did that, but that's why I'm getting the ring.

I take it the stock 16 inch rims won’t fit with that brake setup?

Where’d you get them? I've been hoping to do the brake upgrade also but other minor annoyances came up with the car. So im taking care of those things first.

I'm not sure which pads he has, but he may end up posting here (you have him to thank for the find anyhow!), and I'm sure we'll find out then. As for sticking something in there, I"m gonna skip that. We'd have to basically angle the pad (which isn't going to work since the caliper would bite it right down), and then we'd end up lifting the flat part of the pad off the top of the rotor, so we'd move the ring out to the edge of the rotor. I think they did it to clear the inner part of the rotor hat, but I'm not sure. In any case, I'm not sweating it all that much. Car still stops on a freakin' dime every time.

As for your projects and all, we can even do it while you take a breather from your schoolwork - consider it a mental health break. You're absolutely right that it'll take only minutes. My carriers came off easily with a breaker bar, and I can bring that, the correct sockets, torque wrench, and allen socket to meet you if you want. Won't take any time at all.
