Default piece of crap window question

I asked this about a month or so ago about my motor and I still just dont know and before i just burn my car to the ground I just wanna verify before i take my driver door completly apart and murder kittens. ok my motor just constantly spins down, take it out of its housing and just hold it in my hand, plug it in and still just spins down. unplug the driverside switch and still same thing just spins down constaly never stopping. i dont se any broken plastic pieces or anything and the window is still on track and sitting nicely in its fully closed up position. is this still the regulator or is there a possibility its something else. between my altenator crapping out on me on the highway in the middle of the night and there being a huge power steering leak going through a can of fluid a month I think burning it to the ground and having a audi bonfire might be the best option, just kidding. gonna take her apart this weekend just wanna know if someone has any idea if I should start somewhere first before taking the whole damn thing apart

It is always helpful if you provide the MY and other information on the vehicle.

Is the window the most important item, or do you still have issues with the alternator and power steering?

The window issue could possibly be a faulty switch.

The window regulators on the B5 are a common issue, especially on the driver's window. Has the window regulator for the driver's window been replaced recently?

Speaking of the window.... yesterday I got in my car and I pressed the switch to lower the rear passenger side window. When I pulled on the switch to retract the window into its original position, its like the window was slipping or falling back down.

I had already replaced the passenger side front window regulator.. so I assumed that is what is failing. Reading this post makes me think, is the motor in that door failing?

I went to the passengers side rear door and closed it with the switch that is in that door. It seemed to go right up.

Maybe my switch failing in the drivers side door?

Sorry its a 99.5 A4 automatic fed. I got the alternator fixed already, and I have no problem just refilling power steering fluid till it warms up a little. I just really like being able to roll my window down. It just seems weird that the motor keeps spinning down even if the window is already fully down. I unplugged the drivers side front window switch and it still just cranking down.its probably still the regulator knowing my luck. Was just seeing if others had any different ideas. Also I'm not sure if its been replaced before. The car only had 124k miles when I bought it two years ago and its currently sitting at 132k miles. I'll look for signs of replacement at lunch

ok I did a good visual inspections of the bottom of the door, there no plastic pieces handging out down there. I also remounted the motor plugged it in and the window went down without a hitch. thouhg obvisiouly wont go up cause the motor is just constantly spinning down. I'd understand if the window was off trac or something and the car thought there was a blockage and was spinning down because of that but even with the window all the way down it just keeps on spinning. now with the motor in my hand and plugged in and i hit up on the switch itll stop the motor for just a brief half second but then goes back to spinning down but atleast its responsive.

bump for clarity on if a broken regulator will cause the motor to constantly spin down and never stop till the car battery dies
