Ok, yeah with the metra dash kit you do have to break the plastic bar or else it will NOT fit. As for the NAV dvd and IPod, yes you have to have the DVD in there for the NAV to work BUT everything else works with that. If you have the DVD in you can still listen to the radio, ipod, xm, and serius. If you are on one of those things you can have the nav running in the background. It will still do the voice nav thing and when you get close to the next turn it switches over to the nav to tell you about your next turn then switches back once you make the turn.

Here is the Kenwood DNX-5120 in my A4 .... purchased on eBay for $675 total....I used the same kit/wiring harnessas you.

 

looks incredible! someday ill have something like that as well. great job.

 

I was going to buy that but I can't find the XM add-on anyplace at all.

 

I personally like the look of the D3 over the kenwood. I just think it fits better with the car.

Also, how well does the Bluetooth work? Can you use voice dialing?
