Please help!!!
I have a 2001 a4 with the 1.8t. The etching by the timing cover says AWM. I have an epc light on the dash. Cel on the dash. Yet no codes on the scanner. Its in a crank but no start way of life right now. Not where i need it to be. Its extremely frustrating and i cant figure this out. Someone here has had to have been down this road. Please enlighten me on the issue before this car gets new holes to breathe out of.
I have the exact same car, but I don't really understand what you're saying.
If I'm reading your post right, you need a speed sensor, which is (lucky for you) cheap and very easy to replace.
If I'm right (which I most likely am), then you need this:
Vehicle Speed VSS Sensor VW Audi 012409191D A4 A6 Passat 80 90 5000 Quattro New | eBay
Let me know when you get it and I'll take pictures and walk you through the replacement process. It's very easy. Don't sweat it.

I pulled the intake hose off of the manifold and sprayed a little starting fluid into it, it fired up. So its evidently fuel related. I am trying to locate the fuel pump relay now before i pull the trigger on the pump. But i appreciate the help man. Was driving me insane trying to figure it out.
The fuel relay is under the driver's side lower dash panel.
You have to take off the cover (4 - 8 or 10mm bolts - one is behind the fuse panel cover). Unplug the footwell light, pull the cover out and you'll see the relay box.The fuel pump relay is the 4th from the left, on the bottom (the relay has the number 372 on it).
This guy shows you how to access the relay box, but he doesn't know what the fuel pump relay is (which is the one I just told you about):
Here is where you can get it a new one:

Don't be surprised if that doesn't fix your problem. I've replaced mine three times. thinking that was my problem and it never was. (if you're close enough to mail it, I have 3 extras. I'll sell you one for less than you'll pay on ebay).
If you believe it's a fuel delivery problem, try replacing your fuel filter first. They're very cheap and very easy to replace on our cars. I did a write up on it, which is around here somewhere. I'm sure a search will find it.
If you choose to the filter (which you should do no matter what your problem is) and you can't find my DIY, let me know and I'll walk you through it.
