Please Help...Code reader connect problem
I just bought a CAN OBD2 diagnostic code reader and when I try to connect to my 1998 A4 1.8T I get a communication protocol not found. Make sure your key is in the on position and try again.
This happened at Good Year to but I just thought the guy trying to connect was just doing it wrong or something. I have done searches on this site but have come up empty so far.
The only thing that I know of that is not stock in the motor is I get about 16 pounds of boost. The guy I bought it from said it had a software upgrade.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Kelly

My car runs awesome. Last year my check engine light came on and I found a guy to come over and plug in with his laptop to tell me whats wrong. It was my evap canister. I have replaced that but never got my engine light reset.
My tabs have now expired because I cannot pass an emission test with that light on.
Any ideas?

Umm...Well I will try it out on one of my other cars and see if it works.
I also read somewhere that it could be my after market stereo. It said it unhook it and try. I think it was left on when I was trying to connect so I will try just turning it off first.
