Wow, ImTheDevil and the local guy with the VAG-COM FTW! Kudos for helping this poor guy.

Do I understand it correctly that the TB realigned itself as soon as he was able to get the code cleared using that guy's VAG-COM? Or did he have to do the whole hour-long process as outlined by ImTheDevil above? It's not clear in his last post.

He cleared the code with his VAGCOM numerous times but everytime he ran the test again the adaptation came back as error. So we checked the battery voltage to see if I had the required 11.5 volts for the VAGCOM to work properly and I was at 11.620. Just a hair over...Could't figure out why the battery was reading so low until we sat in the seats while he was diagnosing it. Then we realized the electrical load those seat heaters were probably putting on the battery. Turned em off, cleared the fault code, ran the test, adaptation o.k., then we heard the TB clicking and doing its thing. Pretty awesome. Now I'm throwing a couple evap codes, but a vacuum leak I can handle. So thanks again gentlemen!

No doubt, especially with the stakes riding on this repair. Glad you're in business
