please help joey nelson!!!
This means the chain was off a tooth. It's very very easy to make this mistake. It can sometimes make valve noise too.
So I replaced my fuel filter which was clogged like a ****. I took the valve cover off, put it at TDC, and counted 16 links...so its not off a tooth. Now here are the codes I am throwing: p0303 and p0353. the 303 is misfire cylinder 3 and 353 is ignition coil c signal fault. Am i to assume that this means my connector to the coilpack is bad? The coilpacks are the new ones after the recall and spark plugs are new and gapped at .032 cause im running stock boost levels. MAf is new also....
I assume its still making the same tapping noise? Your timing marks on the cams are lining up with the marks on the rear two cam caps perfectly and there are 16 rollers between each cam timing mark? I think your cam timing must be off.
UPDATE: So after swapping the packs, it idles fine...im going to assume to connection is just shitty. After reving the car for a little bit, the valve tapping noise has stopped. I let the car idle for a couple more minutes and then went down the street. The valve tapping noise came back slightly so my trip wasnt very long. In the driveway, I revved it more and when I hit a little over 4500 rpms the valve tapping noise came back again. I let it sit and then it went to almost in audible...I am so confused. Tomorrow, I think I am going to pull the valve cover, get it at TDC, take off the cam caps, tighten down the tensioner, and look at the valves. If everything looks good, I am going to install everything back and see if that does anything. When I origionally did the tensioner, I didnt do it at TDC, so maybe tis wil help. I don't know if my timing is off cause it wil idle fine... still lost...
No more misfire as of right now. And i read that it didnt matter as long as you put it back correctly. I know think that I should have so I will be doing it again tomorrow...not actually pulling the tensioner, but putting it at TDC and retightening it.
