Please help!! random misfire under a load only
Hello all, and thank you in advance for readin this. Im new to the Audi world and hoping someone could help steer me in the right direction. I have a 1997 A4 1.8T Quattro, and it runs perfectly in neutral. Will rev up to max rpms with no hesitations or problems. But as soon as i put it in gear and drive, i put a lil bit of pressure on the gas, it sputters and doesnt want to go. feels as if it is choking. If i continue to force it to go, the check engine light comes on and it reads P0300 random misfire. I took each coil off individually and rpms dropped as if the coils and plugs were still functioning properly, changed the MAF thinking it was a faulty sensor, and yet still no luck.. Your help, assisstance and expertise is greatly appreciated!!!!

P0300 is usually accompanied by P030(1-4) identifying which cylinder is misfiring. To confirm the misfire is random and not a dead coil pack, swap the coil pack from the cylinder that is misfiring and see if the misfire follows the coil pack.
If it does not, and its still random, the most likely culprit is the ignition control module which sits on top of the air box.
If you would like to confirm its the ICM by testing it, read this: http://forums.audiworld.com/showthread.php?t=211086
