I saw an ad in our local paper today from Empire Motors (local VW/Audi/M-B/Porsche place), stating to bring in your 98 or newer VW, Audi, or Mercedes for a free oil/filter change, lube, and pre-winter inspection. No purchase apparently necessary.

Obviously they will likely find plenty of issues with any car that comes in, and will likely offer all sorts of dire predictions of stranding and death this winter if they aren't allowed to fix them, but hey - no one says you have to let them, and it's a free oil change!
