Power steering fluid smoking?
I have a 96' Audi A4 2.8 with 110k miles on it. Besides squeaking constantly, and sounding like a diesel engine, the only other issue I have is this power steering fluid leak. The mechanic couldn't find the leak, and suggested I just refill the fluid when it gets too low. This worked well up until a few days ago, when I added power steering fluid only to have it be almost empty and bubbling when I reached my destination (only 30 miles away). The last four times I've driven it, I've replaced the fluid prior to leaving and by the time I reach my destination I'm fighting with the wheel in order to park. When checking the fluid reservoir, I'm noticing bubbles and smoke rising from the PS fluid compartment. Has anyone had any similar experience and/or have a ball park figure for how much this will cost to repair?
