Default problems after conversion

Hi i have just swapped a 1.8t (avj) manual fwd from a b6 into my b5. the meter cluster the keys the keys and the wiring loom are all from the b6, but im having problem startin the car.

This are some of the dtc,

18056- powertrain data bus: failure
18043: powertrain data bus: missing message from ac controller
18258: powertrain data bus missing message from ecu

i dont have a bently manual can anyone from this forum email me one.
Thanks

No one can email you a bently manual, the copywrite technique is too hardcore.

Did you use the ECU from the B6? You probably need that if the engine codes are different, which they are.

I've honestly never heard of anyone swapping a B6 1.8T into a B5. Doesn't mean no one has done it or it isn't possible though. I just don't understand how the cluster and other B5 control modules are going to work with an ECU from a B6. But then, i dont see the engine running if using the B5 ECU. Sounds like more trouble than it's worth to me. Good luck though.

Only way I see to make it work from this point, after you swap in the B6 ECU like onepoint8tee was saying, is to get the wiring diagrams for both cars, including connector pinout diagrams, and you may have to repin the connectors (moving wires from one connector location) to another, possibly adding some wires and deleting others. It's likely to be a very big job.

I would say the ECU if not from the B6 need coding in together if it can but as stated I would use the B6 ECU if you are using the B6 clusters and keys.

Apparently he is using the B6 ecu. The car starts, but only runs for a second. He PM'd me and I suggested to keep posting in this thread to see if someone else could be of further assistance, because I really don't have a clue. Never heard of anyone doing this...

Try getting a cluster from a B6 A4 and plugging it in to where the cluster for the B5 goes (i don't even know if this is possible though). If it is possible then try and start it. If it runs then it's your cluster. If not its something else.
