Default Question about Bilstein shocks...

I have a 97 A4 Quattro 1.8T, I bought Bilstein sport shocks and Neuspeed sport springs for my car. I have Ksport coilovers on there now but I do not like their drive at all which is why I am replacing them. But, my question is I got the Bilstein shocks in yesterday, the rears looks fine but the fronts look a little weird, I don't see how the spring will be held from just falling right to the bottom of the shock, am I missing a part? A friend told me it was called the "upper strut mount" but I believe that's that one that goes all the way at the top that mounts to the car. The shock it self has a groove about half way but no plate, it did come with 2 small rings but I think that's not to hold the spring up since it's probably only like 2-3 inches in width. Anyone install these before is there something I need to take off the factory shocks? Which I don't have... If that's it where can I get them? Any help will be very appreciated, Thanks everyone...

im not too familiar with these, or suspensions at all, but i talked to someone who has bilstein shocks and told me "the shock body of [the] blstn's have an adjustable ring on the bottom that adjust the height on the spring seat. so eventgh the springs are not height adjustable the shock bodies make it so..."
im not sure if this will help but good luck!

I have this setup (Bilstein.Neuspeed)... I think I had the same question, but everything turned out ok when I got to the installation. Been 4 years so I am a little hazy, but I think the part you need is already on the car - which became apparent to me upon installation time.

i believe you install the front springs in a sort of housing that is on the car. theres a rest on the shock for the bottom of the spring, but the top of the spring rests on this housing. you will know what i mean when you get in there. if im remembering correctly, its been a year.

Thanks for the replies everyone, but my only problem now is that I don't have the factory shocks on there nor have them anymore... I have ksport coilovers which have they're own mounts for the spring which are threaded and won't fit the new ones... anyone know if I can get them at the dealership without buying new shocks and how much... I should of kept my old OEM ones LOL, by the way brrman how do you like the drive with this setup?

you are going to need the "perches" from the stock shock...
