Question about brake rotors
I'm in the middle of replacing the two rear wheel bearings, and I'm about to need some brakes too.
I've looked at my local parts houses, and can get a set of Wagner OEM type rotors and pads for around the same price as these on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Audi-...Q5fAccessories
My question is, are the ones on ebay worth it, or are they crap?
I don't have a ton of $$ to spend on these, so either OEM (from blauparts.com/local parts stores/etc...) or these from ebay would be my only two choices.
I need to stay around the $250 range.
Thoughts?

i wouldn't buy the rotors from ebay because you will get into trouble if they are warped. i'd buy the brakes from a local parts store. are you doing all 4 corners? if you're just doing the rears, it shouldn't cost you 250
Brake rotors are not a rocket science and any reputable machine shop can make them.
I've been buying aftermarket rotors even for my high-performance vehicles, mostly because the aftermarket offers bigger selection, while galvanized rotors look way better than corroded OEM.
Talking about the linked rotors -the cross drilling has mixed reviews for average driver, while slots are made to shave the pads in extreme braking on race track.
Why would you want to keep on shaving your brakes on everyday driving?

the galvanization of galvanized rotors wears off of the contact after a short while so they are essentialy the same thing as OEM. get some high temp paint and paint the hubs and they will look just as good and save you money.
slots are made to primarily provide a way to vent gasses that build up under hard braking, as well as refresh the pad surface. they dont 'shave' the pads continuously and arent specificly for track use.
cross drilling is meant to also provide a path for out-gassing, but also increase surface area for better cooling. cross drilling can lead to a rotor cracking under high heat unless it is very well designed with carefully placed holes. usually cheap ebay things are not well designed.
just get some cheap regular zimmerman rotors. they hold up pretty well and are very inexpensive.

hey - I have some new front slotted rotors and front pads for sale in the classifieds.
