radio installation help
Ok i am need of some serious answers.
I am installing an alpine head unit into my 99.5 audi a4. I have the original factory bose system in there and i have been hearing a few stories. MY questions are:
Do i need anything special to install the alpine?
Is there an install kit that I can purchase?
Do i need to know anything about the installation that might confuse me?
Please any info would be great, i just need to be pointed in the right direction.
Thanks

metra parts
999100-dash kit
701787-factory amp intergration harness
40vw53-antenna adapter (its possible this isnt the right one, but im almost positive it is right)
you can pick all those parts up at your local circuit city (or that other, less cool store, Worst Buy. you can guess which one i work at) im guessing the dash kit and harness are special order. i dont think best buy special orders parts, but i am positive circuit city does. as far as installing it goes, i have never taking my car apart so i am not sure on that part.

You'll also need the removal keys to get the factory head unit out, they're like $5 for the pair.
With the adapter harness, installation is easy as hell. Just splice the harness that came with your new head unit onto the adapter harness by matching colors (remember kindergarten? good) and then plug the adapter harness into the ends of the factory harness, assemble the dash kit and install the head unit chassis, then hook the harness up to the back of your head unit and slide it into place. Voila!

actually that harness has four rca plugs instead of eight speaker wires so splicing of those wires isnt necessary, whoever power, ground, and accesory power will need to be slpiced. the rca's plug into the respective left/right and front/rear outpus on the deck so make sure you pick out a radio with atleast four rca outputs
