theres 2 RNS-Es on the zine, search under b5 s4/rs4 interior, The RNS-D is useless i wouldn't waste time. Theres also 6 or so on Ebay for the same price range.

^There's my problem, I've been lookin in the A4 classifieds like a donkey lol. Thanks Jon!

EDIT: Just checked the zine, all three ads are from the same guy, and reading them he sounds kinda shady. There's a "blemish" on the screen but he won't post any pics of it....

Thanks man! I'll read up and see what the deal is. Part of my wants to just replace it with another symphony because it'll be cheap and easy, but if its broke why not get something better yenno?

HEy Chris, try doing a search for "RNS" in the classifieds. I came up wit ha lot more even a few for $650. I know one of the first pages in the guide has every RNS-E listed, you just need one that communicates via can bus. Either way the faceplate won't line up.

That was another one of my concerns, I don't really feel like DIY'ing some kinda hacked up trim plate to make it fit right. Although I would prolly have to do the same thing to make an aftermarket radio work too...

well the double din aftermarket is pretty universal. its not really a hack job on the rise vs a slight shave. id pend the money for an rns-e and if you read that first link you'll see why. OEM integration. Everything showing up in the cluster the way it should. Plus it looks 10 thousand times better than any aftermarket piece.

Pioneer - 50W x 4 MOSFET Apple® iPod®-/Satellite Radio-Ready In-Dash DVD Deck - AVIC-X930BT

That's what you need. Or look for a used Pioneer Avic D3.

How much are you looking to spend?

Did the head unit light up at all or display the "safe" message? If not, then i assume you blew the fuse in the back of the head unit itself (I know the single din has one).

Yeah Beau that's the fucked up part. It lights up, all the buttons light up, and when you turn it on it displays "SAFE" on the screen, but none of the buttons do anything. Holding Scan and RBDS at the same time does nothing. All I can do is turn it on and off. I've disconnected the battery a coupla times and it keeps giving me that checksum error code. Me thinks it's fried
