Quote: Don't care. Just because it doesn't break doesn't make it good. It's old and inefficient technology. I'd take my 6L80e over a TH400 any day.
When you're making 1000+ hp not breaking is 3/4 OF THE ******* BATTLE. No. You know what? Fine. I just happen to be a believer that newer isn't ALWAYS better. Maybe this is why I like revolvers, muscle cars, and records. To the OP: Sorry for the thread jack.

You can build other transmissions to not break, too. People use the TH400 because that's what their grandpa taught them to use and because they're the type of people that want things simple. The same type that build racers that use carburetors.

Its all good guys... we all have our preferences... and i imagine your 6L80e is in a Vette or Camaro? If you're making any real power past 500-600 ft lbs you know its not going to hold...

aaand with that power level in any GM car I usually see a real old piece of technology being swapped in.... the FORD 9 inch rear end

sometimes older is better my friend...

^ Thanks guys. It's just that when your making 1000+ hp then you go with proven and reliable technology. And just for you power junkies I have this man's latest creation. As if a 1000hp Lemans wasn't enough, he teamed up with Lutz Racing and made a 3000 hp Bel-Air. The video I am about to link is before they realized the pushrods were upside down. It still ran in the 7's. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1tv8zytFRzw Notice how big of a head start that C10 got.

He ran that 7 second quarter with upside-down pushrods and it's an all steel car.
