Default really annoying indicator problem

Hi,

car : A4 1.8ts quattro MY:2000

My indicator will not engage properly, less than 1 out of 10 times I try engaging it it will produce 1 flash then die, most times the little green arrow barelly lights up for 1 tenth of a second and the indicators never flash. I tried changing the combo switch, this did not solve my issue,

Anyone had the same problem? How was it solved?
Thanks

Im not really sure what you mean by combo switch but it sounds like you blinker relay is bad. the relay is in your hazard switch I had the same problem with my car and I just had to replace the hazard button, which fixed the problem.

Thanks for your reply, I forgot to mention, the hazards work fine, is it still likely that the problem is in the relay, by combo switch I mean the part where the levers for the indicator and lights attach, .

The hazards are a different relay. I managed to fix mine by cleaning out the contacts on the relay, you'll see what to do when you take apart the hazard switch.

Terrific thank you ! So I take the center console apart to get at it and spray some electronic cleaner and wipe and maybe it will be operational again? Anyone know of any pictures or instructions on how to take it apart and what it will look like?

2000 right? pop the top piece of trim off aka the hazard trim. the the hazard witch has tabs you push and pop! not that hard once you see it.
