I have been searching around and have found myself a bit confused about the k03-05 and k03-29. Did kkk make a k03 turbo with a more efficient compressor wheel for 1.8t longitudinal? If so, what year, engine code, bolt on? I apologize if this is a really old horse that i am whipping. Also, i'm not trying to make big power gains, just wanting to replace an old worn out turbo on an apr chip daily driver. I have read about rebuilding into a hybrid, but cast of turbo has some cracks. Long and the short, is there a better k03 to replace stock aeb turbo? Any input would be appreciated!

 

the '01 had a KO3s, which is more efficient.

 

this is a common misconception. there was no such thing as a "k03s" made for longitudinal, or as far as i know transverse engines. the email from borg warner is floating around here somewhere. i do believe the turbo was revised for 01's, but it never recieved the nomenclature of k03s. 01's had more power from the factory because of revised tuning and added boost. its why a chipped 98 will make the same/near the same power as a chipped 01.

look at it this way. if you put a turbo from an 01 on your 00,99,98, or 97, it won't make any more power
