Default Remote Start for '97 Audi A4 1.8T Auto Trans

I'd like to get one for my girl's car. I need suggestions b/c I 've never installed one although I have plenty of auto experience.

Where's the best value for the price to get one? ANy I should avoid? How difficult is it to install on the A4? Anyone got one they can tell me about?

I was going to get same thing done to my car... took it to best buy and asked my friends to hook me up and he was like no way in hell im touching audis wiring. When I asked why he said that they had a lady come in and had hers installed and after hours of work her audi was sending out all bunch of error codes. She was pissed i bet. So yeah im not really sure how hard it is to install it but my buddy from best buy whos very good with cars told me its PITA

Yeah, I found some articles and read the same thing. I found one hopeful auction on Ebay about one that's supposed to work with the factory keyless entry and was supposed to work really good.

It was $99.

Maybe I'll read a little more and attempt it next year if she still has it...

I've been looking for one myself and I've been to a specialized store and I've been told that : 1-since the key is chipped, they will need to take apart one of your ''expensive'' valet key to get the chip then they will need to intall a special module for the chip and then there's the wiring issue... they told me they did it before on some audi and half of it cause wiring issue so they don't even do it anymore because most of the time it cost more for the store to repair that wiring issue that selling and installing the remote start. At the end, with the faq that I only have one valet key and will need to buy a other one, that would have cost me around 600$ (can) and some wiring trouble so I didn't think it was worth it ... do you ...
