Default Removing stuck Symphony HU?

Hi guys,

I know this question has been asked a million times, but nothing has worked for me so far. I have 4 DIN keys and I got the HU out once before with them. I have not been able to get it back out since, I've tried countless amounts of times. My eventual goal is to install a bluetooth system in the car. I can't do that until I get the HU out, which is proving to be impossible. I cannot pry off the faceplate, as others have suggested because the right side of it has a small, 3/4" hairline crack in it. shoving a screwdriver behind it is just going to make the crack bigger and possibly break off the whole right side of the unit. and of course, until I get it out, I can't really glue it back together. So, I need some other options. how can I get the blasted thing out? I've considered taking apart the whole center console, but every tutorial I've seen on doing so includes removing the HU with the keys, which I obviously cannot do. So I'm hopelessly stuck here. If anybody can lend me some advice here, I'd appreciate it. thanks!

I tried it already and the crack expanded. I'd rather not go that way again, since the crack is still very unnoticeable at this stage.

bend it from the other side then (that isnt cracked). The din mounts are stuck? I dont see why you care about the crack if your going to replace it. Just wing it, worst thing that happens is it breaks and then its out of the way.

I wasn't really planning on replacing it, I prefer to keep the stock look and I don't particularly like any of the aftermarket head units out there. I was playing around with them the other day, and I don;t think they're very user-friendly in terms of keeping eyes on the road. I guess I could replace it with one from ECS tuning, because they're pretty cheap, but again, I'd rather not spend money needlessly. I might just see how much the stealership will charge to remove it first, and then play it by ear, worst case scenario. I've heard of people having them removed for free before.

Dude, user friendly go with kenwood. I just got a kenwood kdc-152 off of ebay with wiring harness and dash kit shipping included for $70. Cant beat that. Has more rms than stock, red lIghting matches cars lighting, and its so cheap. Cant beat that price. Edit: and its your radio..... Youll be use to it eventually either way and not hav to take ur eyes off of the road...

Well if I were to go aftermarket, it would probably be something with built-in GPS, something with a lot of features and those aren't cheap.

I have to use an L-pick to get the radio out of my girlfriend's TT. Something like this, you can get them from Auto Zone or Advance:

I used this youtube video as a guide:

If you do it right, the crack shouldn't be an issue since you're actually pulling on the metal frame, not the plastic face plate. Hope that helps!

C'mon bro...everyone knows, the best Head Units in the Car audio industry is PIONEER! hands down... The 2012 models are sick!

I wish i didn't have my Pioneer AVH-P4300,so i would have an excuse to buy a 2012 series.

It'll run for 500.00 or so on Amazon for the new 2012 series with tons of features.

Pioneer's new flag ship model, debuts their first Head unit, where the faceplate comes off for security. You normally would only see other brands, like JVC and other would have this but never pioneer but they finally stepped up their, security game!

Here is a small clip of my Pioneer AVH-P4300 Head unit with the new Alpine SWR-12D4 Type-R 12 series subwoofer:

Well a lot of features and user friendly is a hard thing to find.
