Default Replaced Serpentine Belt now wont start

Hey guys: Thanks in advance!!

So today we finished up replacing my serpentine belt in my 97 1.8 quattro.. After everything's back together it wont start.

When the belt broke half of it was wrapped around the crankshaft and the other half was still on the pulleys but it was twisted, It was all removed but I wasn't sure if maybe there was some sensor or some special instructions on putting the serpentine or any of the other accessory belts back on?? I dont know how long it was driven like this since it was driving fine and it was only when i slow down to turn into a parking spot did it seize up..

It does turn over and the motor seems to be spinning the belts nicely.. Also wont start with jumpers

Any suggestions are welcome!! THANKS!

Is it being turned by the starter only or is it sort of "almost" starting but failing or what? Try feathering the gas pedal? Try some starting fluid? Maybe the belt broke some wires and/or vacuum hoses when it snapped?

well what does it do when you tried to start it? you have to give us more info so we can narrow down the problem. otherwise we can give you a huge list of things to check and you would be there all day versus the 20 min drive

Its barely not starting and there doesn't appear to be any damage to hoses... Could the timing belt breaking cause the serpentine belt to break... Just unsure of why the serpentine broke in the first place..

well did your T belt break at all? the serpentine belt was either old or not put on right when it was replaced to have it break.
