Default Rim Offsets???

I have a 2001 A4 1.8T FWD. I want to buy a set of 18" rims but the offset and width confuse's me.What will work best?

18x8.5 35mm offset- Backspacing:6.18"
OR
18x7.5 35mm offset- Backspacing:5.70"

i dont want them to stick out the wheel well but i also dont want the submerged really far either

Here is a wheel offset calculator I used when checking on a set of 18x8's with 42 offset for my 98 Avant Q. Fit fine clearance wise with the suspension, just had to roll the fenders for the tire clearance.

Stock wheels are 7" with a 35 offset (99% sure on this). Just enter the widths you are considering, and it will kick out the inner and outer changes.

Be careful with the 8.5, as it may be a tad too big for the B5...not 100% positive, but perhaps someone with a FronTrak can chime-in.

Cheers,

Steve

My bad, yes they are ET45's OEM...[&:]

...Late night posts and my brain must have been mixing up the 42's that I have with the 35's you were considering. In anycase, ET35s are going to be that much closer to the outside, so the 8.5's are even more likely to give you headaches with fitment and rubbing; essentially 32mm or 1.26 inches closer to the outside of your fender, if not outside of it! IMO that is not a look most people want to have; a bit too ricer. Even with my 18 x 8's I had to roll the front fenders. Also depends on the size of tires, mine are 225 40 18.

Ciao,

Steve
