RJ-45 Connection????
I think it was designed for the Motorola in car phone. Never really took off I guess but it doesn't do anything of value sitting there. Some have tried to pull power out of it but it doesn't supply enough.

It is (was)for this phone:

You'd be hard-pressed to find one these days

I used to have a few along with a bunch of other 3 watt installed phones that I had in my garage from when I moved into this house in 1995, I was a cell phone installer in Socal from 1988-1996.
All of the "brick" motorola car phones used the same install cable which is the one we have in our cars, so any of them should work in our car.
I even owned both the motorola 8000 and 9000 hand helds when they first came out. LOL.
BTW vintage would be the car phones before cell phones were invented, they were about the size of a briefcase and you dialed an operator to make a call. Yes yes I know I am OLD.
