Default Rotor upgrade for snow question

Hi everyone,

I'll be moving from Florida to Massachusetts in a couple months and wanted to upgrade my car to be snow-ready.

I saw ECS has the upgraded brake rotors but it looks like they're for the front..

silly question, but do we not need to upgrade the brakes on the rear?

Snow tires will help you a hell of a lot more than upgraded rotors. This coming from a guy who lives in one of the coldest cities in the world.

I'm going to get snow tires, of course. But my rotors are original and wouldn't mind being changed I'm sure.

In a couple months you won't need to worry about snow for a few months.... Rotors won't make or break how your car performs in the snow, good tires will.

To answer your question about the rear brakes: you can upgrade to S4 brakes. Just need S4 rear brake calipers, caliper carriers (also called brackets), and rotors. The S4 rear brake rotors are vented and a little bit larger diameter than stock A4 rear rotors. They also bolt right up, and use the same E-brake cable, brake lines, and brake pads.

Thank you, METALMAN.

But will it be ok if I just upgrade the front with this kit?

Yes, that's fine. It's not a huge upgrade anyways, just adds another 22mm to the overall rotor diameter (and gives the brake pads more stopping ability). Most people who do this don't upgrade the rear brakes.
