"SAFE" on radio?
Hey all,
My radio says SAFE on it and does not work. Anyone know what to do. I have a 98 a4 1.8Q. My owners manual says that there is a seperate manual for the radio itself. Please help i hate riding around without music.
Thanks,
B

You must have disconnected the battery for one reason or another. If you have the oringinal owners manual there is a seperate manual for the radio, inside which should be whats called a "radio card" it has the 4 digit code you need to input on the radio to get it to work. No one here can get it for you if you don't have it, the dealer will have to read your VIN and give it to you ($$)
that's the weird thing is that I didn't do that. I went to a meet listened to music on the way back, got in the car the next morning and there she was...safe. Thank you for the help, I guess i will take a trip to the stealership.
this is from my audi audio manual to unlock the safe mode.
press p.scan and rbds buttons simultaneously and hold them down until 1000 lights up in the display.release buttons, do not under any circumstances continue holding them down or press them again. this would cause the radio to consider the number 1000 to be the input code number.
so maybe if you hold the buttons and let it set itself to 1000 you could use that as the code to unlock it.
the station buttons 1-4 are how to enter the code number.button 1 would be the first digit and so-on
once the code is shown in the display press p.scan and rbds buttons simultaneously and hold them down until safe apears on the display. release buttons, soon afterwards a frequency will be displayed
