Default Setting up AUX input using CD changer wiring

Ive looked at all the threads on here, and didn't see any that are doing what I am trying to do. I'm trying to wire up an 1/8" jack into the existing CD changer wiring. Most of the threads on here are dealing with buying the units from crutchfield that plug into the cd changer wiring.

So Ive taken out my radio and it clearly identifies the wiring, and the only 2 wires I think I will need are the left and right channels coming from the CD changer, going into the stereo. My current problem is that the CD changer input does not function on my stereo. I'm wondering if any of you know why this is. Is there a way to reprogram it to work as if it is connected to a CD changer, or does it need a load for it to think that it is powering the CD changer? Thanks for any help that you guys can provide.

Here's an interesting page I found about hacking in an aux input:

I'll be the first to admit that I'm a cheapskate myself, but I guess I'd just drop the $70 and buy the unit from Crutchfield (which I probably will do sooner or later)

Its pretty simple to do. I have found the wires, but my stereo unit does not have a CD changer input option. I'm wondering if this needs to be programmed somehow, or if I just connect the wires, it will give me a CD changer input option when it sees the signal coming in. I guess I can give it a try and see how it goes. Its amazing that nobody has done this.
