Default shifting issues
'97 A4 Quattro 1.8t standard.

having shifting issues. seems that the shifter locking ring has popped out. i was able to put it back and have full function back.

any thoughts and or fixes???

Are you talking about the shifter handle?

were the stick goes into the ball housing. there is a locking ring that for some reason keeps getting dislodged. and when that happens i loose all my gears.

I guess the easiest and cheapest way to start would be to replace the retaining ring.
