Default Speed Sensor Removal (Front)

I'm trying to remove the front wheel speed sensor from my 99 A4. I cannot for the life of me get the damn thing out. Do you have to turn the sensor before you pull it out or should it just come right out? I've put PB blaster and tried to pull it out, but it wont budge. Thanks in advance.

I had it scanned at the dealer and they said that the sensor needs to be replaced because it isn't sending any signal.

The ABS wheel sensor should just pull out.

Thanks Mike. Any tips on how to get a one that seems to be welded in there out?

If its like the ones in my '96 (cylindrical sensor held in place in a hole with an expanded metal sleeve around it) you will probably have to resort to a hammer and chisel or screwdriver to break up the old one and needle nose pliers to pull the pieces out. The expanded metal sleeve corrodes and everything sticks together.
