Default Speedometer not working after engine install

So i just put in my newly rebuilt 1.8t engine and a new clutch.
and the speedo does not want to register, it will not budge.
It is stuck at 0.

There were a couple connections on the transmission that i hooked up, which i assume one of them is the speedometer sensor, but i can't be sure since i'm unable to find a diagram.

Everything works fine, fuel, batter, coolant, and rpm gauges all are accurate except for the speedometer.
Could i have not hooked up the sensor properly or maybe not at all, or maybe it just happened to go bad right after i hooked it back up?
I need help since i'm a bit lost.
The ones i hooked up were right above the driveline on the drivers side of the transmission.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is that the rpm sensor or the speedometer?
I know that that counts the spins on the trigger wheel, for tdc and all. And makes sure the cranks in alignment.

Ok, so i jiggled the sensor around and unhooked the battery.
The next day i started it and it worked.

i drove 6 miles.
Stopped and when i started driving again it went up to 20 and then dropped and stopped working.

Maybe the sensors bad?

Most likely a VSS that is on the transmission or a bad sensor ring that is behind the cover behind that axle flange.
