Stering wheel swap
Newbie here with a simple (or not so) question...
I have the chance to buy a 98 sport steeringwheel w/ airbag, colum, key, the whole nine, cheap. Will this swap (or fit) easily into a 96 A4? just has the winter package, FWD bone stock. I like the look of the three spoke wheel
Thanks

You can swap to a 3-spoke wheel but a certain one is needed (I don't know which year it has to be from, but I imagine a 96 or 97 would work). Go through a few pages in this forum though - someone else was just asking this and there was a pretty long thread going on the topic. It should help answer your question. You won't need the column and key cylinder though, just the airbag and wheel.
Thanks for the reply and advice. I have looked around here, and most are saying the wheels for 96-97 are the same and from 98-2000 wont fits cause of the splines on the shaft. What Im getting is the whole steering column shaft, wheel (with airbag) consle cover, wiper/directional stalks and all so It would be a swap with the bracketry and all (has the ground cable, connections and so on.) Im trying to look at my bently manual and cant quite make out if the mounting points are all the same, I have the "All data" web tech site also, but havent had the time to dig in and see if they are the same (the mounting points). Would be a pretty forward job for me to do, but I figured someone here may have done it and would know if they are the same.
Thanks

Andrew 149, Look like its all intact. Comes with the key for the cylinder also (Unless I can swap that with the one in the car now?). Got the whole thing for $80 so worse case I can re sell it! lol But I think it may be a matter of seeing if the harness connector matches. If not, Ill just check the wiring diagram to it and go from there. But still have to see if the connection points are the same? Any ideas? The part should be here in a week so I can tell more then.
