Default still messin with the EGR, your thoughts please

ok so i cleaned the egr valve and throttle body a couple weeks ago and its still running like crap, it runs fine sometimes but other times it doesn't. i recently put seafoam in the gas to see if that would help and it seem to help but its still doing it's thing. For example, i will start it up and let it idle at a grand for a while then drive it, then when i will come to a complete stop it will either idle at 800rpm and be running fine but then all of a sudden it will start to idle at 1100 or 1200 rpm and be cuttin out when i give it gas and i will take off and drive for a minute and sometimes it will go back to 800rpm and sometimes it wouln't and idle at 1100 to 1200. If i could get some thoughts on this it would be greatly appreciated, thanks. i have a 97 A4 2.8l

Trying doing the complete Seafoam treatment, one can in the gas (done already) half a can in the oil, other half in the intake via a vacuum line. Turn the car off, let it sit a few minutes "seafoaming" them start it back up and watch it smoke.

Change your oil after about 200-300 miles.

I'm not familiar with the 2.8 at all, but I know it has a vacuum line on it somewhere... Use some tubing and let the intake "suck" it up out of a plastic bottle or something.

Do a search, I know I saw a video DIY on here somewhere awhile back. Search "Seafoam Treatment"
