the shop thats doing my work said they dont like to go over 300hp w/o replacing the rods. anything over 450hp as a daily drive they said i should replace more.

I wouldn't go over 350ft lbs without rods. Especially with a cookie cutter tune. Plenty of 1.8t's have had what's left of the rods punch through the sides of the block.
