Default strange flashing lights

hello all. I bought my wonderful 99 Avant back in April. It's ben a great car so far. BUT, for the last month or so I have been seeing flashing lights on my dash. It seems to happen more when it's cold out (below 40 deg). My seatbelt light flashes solo and then sometimes it flashes along with my low fuel, low oil, water tmp. Other times it's one of the other mentioned lights. Either solo or at the same time as the others. They all kind of flicker. Sometimes quite often and then other times not for a day or so. The flickering happens whether I am sitting still or driving. The fluids are fine, I wiggled my seatbelt and it didn't make any difference.

Any ideas?

seems like a ground short for the cluster.

I thought about that but all of the gages work fine. and it happens more when it's cold. Would the cold increase the resistance? Causing the lights to flash more.

The most likely cause is the cluster itself. I've seen various things happen in colder temps from unwarranted warning lamps, flickering lights, erratic gauges, to no starts (immobilizer is part of cluster). It's not real common but does happen occassionaly.

is there a fix for it? Buy a new cluster?? My friend that sold me the car also has a TT and he has replaced his cluster twice.

so, I really need some help with this flashing lights problem. It seems that when its below 40 deg my oil, seatbelt, low fuel, rear hatch and brake light flash intermittently. It doesn't matter if the car is moving or not. they flicker really. almost like a loose wire. The thing is that they don't do it as much when its warm outside. Like today, it was around 65 and they flickered very little. Just not sure what to do. Has anyone else seen this???

Scan it with VAG-COM. Do NOT replace the cluster outright without confirming that the cluster is bad. Our clusters do not seem to go bad too often other than the LCD issue. Do check grounds and other connections as well.

Thanks. I will try to get it scanned. I really does seem like a loose wire/ground issue.
