suction pump issue
I have a problem where the widest funnel-like part tends to separate too easily from the other side. All I have to do is barely move it and it separates or after a day or two of vibrations from driving. I have it wrapped up a bunch of times with electrical tape at the moment as a temporary fix, but I want to fix it the right way. Is the only way to fix this is to get a new one or am I supposed to make it snap on a certain way? I didn't realize how important this part is until it separated one day and the low vacuum made the car turn off when I came to a stop.
Honestly i would replace it. The hoses just go onto it and have clamps secoring them. Chances are that work in the past ended up damaging it (if it doesn't have one-time clamps on it, it's been messed with). Throw a new one on and be done with it.
What I don't understand is that where it separates, it doesn't look broken at all. I guess it would be a good idea to just get a new one though. I was looking on ecs and saw that there are two to choose from. Does anyone know why the revised one is almost twice the price of the other one?

I put epoxy on mine, let it cure, then wrapped aluminum foil tape (Home Depot) around. Mine had vacuum leak around the whole perimeter where yours have. So, after replacing few other vacuum lines, I am now at -20" vacuum when idle and -23" when coasting in gear with gas off. I guess that's what it is supposed to be?
So is this a common problem then? Why do these things come apart? I don't want to pay for another one and then have it pop off again. Maybe I should just seal it up and then tape it up real tight?
